About Geoff Straw
Geoff Straw is a Registered Psychotherapist with 30+ years of experience in providing therapy and support to individuals, groups, and workplaces. Finding balance and purpose in the world may seem stressful at times. With Geoff as your guide, you will identify your unique challenges and strengths, enabling you to live life to your greatest potential. Additionally, Geoff is respected member of and ally to the 2SLGBTQQIA+ Community.
While completing research with cancer patients during the M.A. program, Geoff developed a strong interest in helping individuals and families cope with the stress of illness, and focused on reducing anxiety and finding meaning in life.
Geoff specializes in providing support to caregivers as well as to individuals who are coping with illness and end-of-life care, as well as comprehensive grief and bereavement support.
He also has a keen interest in promoting well-being through talk therapy, mindfulness practice and the reduction of anxiety for various life circumstance and transition.
He compassionately affirms sexual and gender diversity and provides support to individuals and families seeking a greater understanding and integration of self in the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
Geoff brings a holistic approach to Psychotherapy, acknowledging the spiritual aspect of each unique path. Geoff believes that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for all change and growth. Geoff embraces a humanistic, person-centered approach that may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Mindfulness-based, emotion-focused and positive Psychology.

Geoff brings over 30 years of experience to his work tapping into the wisdom and guidance of spirituality, nature, and altruism in guiding transformation, affirmation, and recovery. Geoff’s therapeutic philosophy is grounded in compassion, recognizing the important role of the individual in channeling an inner strength to affirm, heal, recover, and grow as a person.
After many years of working with the 2SLGBTQ+ community, He witnessed a gap in the mental health community services and hopes to close that gap with his practice.
Geoff’s practice is always evolving with the goal of remaining up-to-date in current modalities for psychological treatment and care.
